PNNL Says Passive House Performance Saves Lives

Passive House levels of efficiency have long been shown to save money on energy costs, dramatically improve indoor air quality and improve acoustic performance. The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) has now proven that the habitable conditions demonstrated in Passive House residential buildings will maintain temperature five (5) times as long as a typical existing building. The beyond code passive efficiency known as Passive House, researched across 6 climate zones, demonstrated between 5-43 lives saved in a 7-day extreme cold event and between 5-203 lives saved in a 7-day extreme heat event compared to a typical existing building.

This is another reason why is makes no sense to dismiss Passive House building science. It enables the highest performing building at the lowest possible cost. With an experienced team, you should never pay a premium.
